Is my son VARSITY ready?
Hey, I’m Coach Joey from Pitch Right Baseball. You just finished your Varsity Ready Scorecard — awesome job!
Varsity readiness isn’t just about talent. It comes down to 3 measurable things:
1. VELOCITY THAT MEETS VARSITY STANDARDS
If your son is significantly below these ranges, it doesn’t mean he won’t make varsity — but it does mean development needs to be intentional and structured.
Velocity gaps are usually a movement efficiency problem, not a strength problem.
Â
2. EFFICIENT MECHANICS THAT TRANSFERÂ POWER
Most players don’t lack effort… they lack efficient movement patterns.Â
Everything we do comes down to one thing: learning how to move efficiently. When your body moves right, velocity and arm health take care of themselves.
3. STRUCTURED, REPEATABLE ROUTINES
If your son doesn’t have structured routines yet, that’s often the biggest gap — not talent.
Now let’s talk about your score
🔴 If You Scored 0–9
You likely need foundational development.
This usually means:
- Mechanics aren’t syncing yet
- Velocity is below varsity thresholds
- Routines may be inconsistentÂ
The good news? This is where the biggest jumps happen.
🟡 If You Scored 10–15Â
You have a solid base.
This usually means:
- Mechanics are developing well
- You’re within reach of varsity benchmarks
- Some advanced sequencing needs refinement
At this stage, small movement improvements can lead to noticeable velocity gains.
🟢 If You Scored 16+
You’re trending toward varsity readiness.
This usually means:
- Delivery is repeatable
- Velocity is competitive
- Routines are fairly consistent
Now it becomes about refinement, command, and game-readiness under pressure.
But Here’s the Truth…
Varsity readiness isn’t a fixed label.
It’s a process.
And most pitchers — even high scorers — are one or two mechanical inefficiencies away from unlocking another 3–5 mph.
